First Impression of Acronis True Image
I've been using Acronis True Image Home for a
long time, as readers of my newsletter know. I started with ATIH 7, then
ATIH 9 ATIH 11 and now use ATIH 2009.
Each version includes improvements in previous versions - but when I saw the
features of Acronis True Image Home 2009, you lot!
I love the new interface - it is much easier to understand than the version
ATIH 11 (which was similar to previous versions). Just looks good. It also
has many adjustable options through the options menu (Tools> Options)
instead of forcing us to go through all the options each time you wanted to
create or schedule a backup.
Technology Tip
Let me repeat that - there are plenty of options, including ones you really
want, such as Validate backup file is created when they are in the Options
menu. (This option allows you to make sure that the backup you just made is
good. I ran into this problem years ago with Drive Image - I deleted the
partition to restore the image of unity, and then decided that the Drive
Image backup was bad, and refused to return. It is not a good thing ...
In the bottom left we see the main menu screen (Home) ATIH in 2009. From
here you can easily do each task.
The image on the right is the first backup and restore the screen. Think of
them as assistants to walk through each step.

The next screen on the left is the screen and Registration Tasks, which
contrrol backup scheduled and unscheduled tasks. As you can see on the
calendar, I have True Image Home 2009 to run a scheduled backup, every three
days. Although you can not see the details of this screen, I run a full
backup at or near the first day of the month and after the scheduled
incremental backups. Occasionally, I run out of a scheduled incremental
backup, too. The color coding makes it easy to view the status of the
backups.
The next screen is the first Utilitites screen, which offers two tools for
managing your hard disk. Notice in the upper left, there are two entries:
Disk Management and Cleaning Utilities.
This hard disk management menu, you can clone a drive (for example, if we
replace the disk with a bigger, or we can add a new record for the team.
This last feature allows us to set the first hard drive blank so that we can
use to store data and programs. Of course, Windows also has tools to do it,
but they are hidden and not so obvious how to use them.

The last picture shows the clean Utilities True Image Home 2009 is the unit
clean (safe to clean a hard drive, which takes hours and hours), the
fragmentation of files (in a safe way to clean the files) and the cleaning
interesting utility, the System Cleanup utility said that the "clean all
traces of your activity in Windows" (what about traces of common programs
like Firefox and Opera?).
Even more interesting, that says "safely clean your hard disk free space."
That is a feature that is hard to find - many programs are individual files
or files and folders. Rather than clean the entire hard drive. However, I
found a few over the years that are designed to clean the space.
The final image is the use of cleaning, with a level of their findings
follows. You need to click the small triangle to show details on each item -
and you may think that the program has been frozen since it creates the list
(the list had 3651 items).
