10 HIDDEN SECRETS OF PC OPTIMIZATION – XP & VISTA 8

 TRADE VISUAL EFFECTS WITH PERFORMANCE

For every generation of Windows, Microsoft has invested great deal of time and effort in improving user experience; in other words, better visual effects and user experience.

What Microsoft has done is to fully utilize the “future” hardware according to Moore law, computer hardware double its’ processing power every 18 months! And every generation is design to sustain at least 3 years; the visual effect will over kill the computer hardware for the next 3 years.
To regain the stability of current Windows and the performance of previous Windows, enthusiast might trade visual effects against performance by disabling them!

Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Performance and Maintenance -> Systems -> Advanced -> Performance Settings -> Visual Effects -> “Adjust for best performance”, click apply.

Select Adjust for best performance will automatically deselect all the visual effects, but you still retain the great interface of XP but feels like Windows 98.

If you are still using rich interface of Windows XP or Vista, I would recommend you to disable as much effects as possible. And of course if your computer is fast enough, you won’t have to tune the interface, because everyone likes better interface experience.
